The Grenada Bureau of Standards (GDBS) is a member of several
regional and international standards setting bodies. The Bureau is a full member of the Caricom Regional
Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) Intr-American Metrology System (SIM), and the Pan American Standards
Commision (COPANT). The Bureau is an affiliate of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and American
Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International).
The Bureau serves as the contact point for CODEX (the joint commission between the
FAO and WHO which is responsible for developing International Food Standards), and is the Enquiry Point for the
World Trade Organization's Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).
As the National Enquiry Point for the World Trade Organization's Agreement on
Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), the Bureau issues notifications on proposed technical regulations and
certification systems in Grenada to the WTO and is also responsible for keeping the private sector abreast with
similar developments in other countries.
The Grenada Bureau of Standards also
works along with various international organizations by using standards developed by these organizations, providing
information to the general public on matters of interest and implementing projects funded by these
organization.
